Association ACCV carried out the timing of the Tour du Pays Vaud 2007 (TPV) with the new transponder Protime RCS.
The timekeepers were very satisfied with the system since the order of the passing and the times at the finish line of the runners corresponded to the time of the photo finish.
The use of the Protime RCS transponder with the Elite2005 software makes it possible to simplify the work of the timekeepers.
Le Tour du Pays de Vaud, it is an international race of class UCI MJ 2.1.
Opened to the national, regional and cantonal junior teams, TPV get together runners of 17 and 18 years old.
The teams, of 6 runners, are selected by the steering committee of the TPV.
The European Federation of Jet Ski (EJSBA) and its president Mr. Franco DETTORI have used the new Chronelec system with Protime RF transponders for the first round at MURCIA (Spain 4-5-6 May 2007) with Mr. Yves Van Heers as director of race.
This new system allows timing in aquatic environment without using a traditionnal loop installed (underwater or overhead).
The reception of Protime RF transponders is done using two antennas judiciously placed to determine the finishing line.
Thanks to these specific antennas (manufactured by Chronelec) and a very powerful analysis of the received signals, the decoder makes it possible to identify the transponders with precision.
The four other rounds, Zandvoort (Holland), Mirandella (Portugal), Antwerpen (belgium) and Disneyland Resort Paris (France) will also be timed with this system and the software Elite 2005.
Like the previous years, the Chronelec system with automatic identification of the pilots was set up for this edition 2007 by RIS and AFC Micro.
Each rider has an armband (blue, white, red, green) in radio link with the transponder. All armband have an unique number assigned to a transponder.
For example, armbrands number #3010-1, #3010-2, #3010-3 are assigned to the transponder #3010, armbrands number #3020-1, #3020-2, #3020-3 are assigned to the transponder #3020.
When an armbrand is near a transponder during several seconds, a data exchange by radio frequency is carried out between the armband and the transponder. If the number of armband is assigned to the transponder, it is able to change the unit number of the transponder. The #3010-1 armband will change the #3010 transponder into #3011, the armband #3030-4 will change the #3030 transponder into #3034... The rider is identified in the pit line exit.
